ITSA signs a new contract with Siemens for Moorgate Project

British Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has awarded Siemens a new contract worth over £200m by for the supply of 25 six-car electric multiple-units for use on Great Northern suburban services with destination London’s Moorgate station that will enter service by the end of 2018.

The new Moorgate car units are a variant of the Class 700 trains Desiro City that is currently being built for the Thameslink routes and will replace Class 313 trains built in 1976/77. The trains will provide passengers with superior, modern and comfortable equipment will have more capacity, improved reliability, air-conditioning and passenger information systems that can be remotely updated to provide real-time information.

ITSA’s contribution to this project covers the design, manufacturing and delivery of the Door Pocket Covers and Interior Endwall Panelling System, along with the supply of spare parts.

Moorgate is ITSA’s third project for the British market under Siemens’ Desiro City platform, with the particularity that this material will comply with the requirements of standard EN45545 HL3.
